Raanan Horowitz, President and CEO of Elbit America
A Leading Global Source of Innovative, Technology-based Systems
Elbit Systems of America is an Aerospace & Defense solution provider specializing in platforms for enhanced situational awareness, survivability and lethality.
For the U.S. Army, Elbit America provides solutions that directly benefit soldiers and allow them to dominate the battlefield, wherever the fight takes them. Following are examples of Elbit America’s advanced technologies, capabilities and solutions that improve mission effectiveness and readiness for the Army.
IronVision™
IronVision™ is the near eye display system for ground combat vehicles, providing situational awareness for crews inside armored vehicles. This low-latency technology allows soldiers to see through the armor of vehicles smoothly, and fight with closed hatches. IronVision provides 360-degree situational awareness that increases survivability and effectiveness of the vehicle. IronVision™ also allows integration with fire control system of the vehicle, which significantly increases vehicle lethality.
Mortars
As the leading provider of mortars to the U.S. Army, Elbit America supplies 120 mm mortar systems, mortar fire control systems, and mortar tubes to three different brigade combat teams: Infantry, Stryker and Armor Brigades. Through this mortar portfolio, essentially every brigade in the Army is touched by Elbit America.
Iron Fist
With parent company Elbit Systems’ recent acquisition of IMI Systems, Elbit America added a large, diverse portfolio of technologies to benefit the U.S. Army, most notably, Iron Fist. Iron Fist was designed to increase the self-defense capabilities of the entire range of armored platforms against modern battlefield threats, such as anti-tank missiles and tank rounds, including Kinetic Energy projectiles. Its sensor suite provides the vehicle and crew with a day/night 360-degree situational awareness, and its active protection system can intercept threats at a safe distance from the defended platform. Iron Fist is currently scheduled to provide active protection systems to an armored brigade of Bradley Fighting Vehicles for the U.S. Army.
Electro-optics & Precision Targeting Systems
Elbit America currently supplies electro-optical and laser technologies for two large U.S. Army systems. First, the Joint Effects Targeting System, is a one-man-portable, handheld that can rapidly acquire, locate and accurately engage targets with precision-guided munitions. The JETS also improves the effectiveness of engagement with unguided munitions. The second technology is the Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder, a crew-served, long-range modular system designed for man-portable, day-and-night and all-weather use. Warfighters use the LLDR to acquire, precisely locate and engage targets using GPS-guided and laser-guided munitions, and to improve the effectiveness of engagement with unguided munitions.
Aviation Helmet Mounted Displays
Elbit America currently provides all of the U.S. Army’s Helmet Mounted Displays. Elbit America is a proud member of Team Apache, providing the AH-64 Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System that provides advanced situational awareness and pilotage imagery, as well as weapons cueing capability. In addition, the company is the legacy provider for the currently fielded ANVIS HUD on the UH-60 and CH-47 fleets.
Most recently, the company won the Army’s Common Helmet Mounted Display competition and will provide this upgraded day and night helmet mounted display, along with the Advanced Sight Display Computer, as part of the PM Air Warrior Air Soldier program. This system will provide a wider field of view and enhanced color symbology to increase aircrew situational awareness and survivability.
Airborne Processors
Elbit America has a long history of providing airborne processors, including the Multi-Core Mission Processor for the AH-64 Apache. Leveraging commercial off-the-shelf technology, this high-performance solution is scalable for future applications and next generation computing capabilities.
Aviation Sustainment & Support Group
Elbit America’s Aviation Sustainment & Support Group specializes in flight line maintenance, aircraft modification and overhaul, and component repair of electronics and hydraulics. Currently, Elbit America is under contract to perform all of the flight line maintenance for the Army fleet of UC-35 and C-26 aircraft.
