AUSA Podcast Features Army Secretary Wormuth

The Association of the U.S. Army is releasing seven new podcast episodes in October, including a special edition featuring new Army Secretary Christine Wormuth.

First up in the “Army Matters” series is an interview with Command Sgt. Maj. Robbie Cantrell, the senior enlisted leader for the New Mexico Army National Guard. In the job since May 2020, Cantrell most recently served at the state’s 515th Regional Training Institute and at the Army’s Fires Center of Excellence at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

The episode is available Oct. 4.

On Oct. 6, a special edition podcast will feature Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston and his wife, Alexandra, who will talk about events and opportunities tailored for NCOs and families at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition. The in-person event will take place Oct. 11–13 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Another special edition to be released Oct. 11 will feature Wormuth, who has been the 25th Army secretary since May 28. Wormuth, who will speak at the opening ceremony of the AUSA Annual Meeting, will talk to retired Gen. Bob Brown, AUSA president and CEO, about her vision for the future.

Next up is an episode featuring Robyn Mroszczyk, an Army financial education program manager who will discuss financial literacy for soldiers and their families. The podcast will be available Oct. 18.

A special edition podcast Oct. 20 will feature David Pittman, director of the Army Engineer Research and Development Center. Pittman, who also is the director of research and development and chief scientist for the Army Corps of Engineers, will discuss the upcoming Army Corps of Engineers Innovation Summit.

Scheduled for Oct. 25–29, the virtual event will showcase innovations from the Army Corps of Engineers and include speakers and panel discussions.

Up next is an interview with author Giles Milton, who will discuss his book, Checkmate in Berlin: The Cold War Showdown That Shaped the Modern World, which recounts the first battle of the Cold War as it has never been told before. The podcast is available Oct. 25.

Finally, in a special edition scheduled for Oct. 27, J.E. “Jack” Surash, senior official performing the duties of the assistant Army secretary for installations, energy and environment, will discuss the Army Climate Strategy and Action Plan.
