AUSA Podcast Highlights Latest in Army Food, H2F Program

Army food and the service’s Holistic Health and Fitness program are the highlights of the Association of the U.S. Army’s “Army Matters” podcast in June.
First up, the podcast will focus on Army food. For the past 250 years, one thing that’s united soldiers is chow hall food, and feeding the Army is about to get the celebrity treatment.
Celebrity chef Robert Irvine is on board as a consultant, and working with Lt. Gen. Chris Mohan, deputy commanding general and acting commander of Army Materiel Command, they are implementing bold new systems to provide viable, healthy and cost-efficient options on all Army installations.
During the podcast, available June 4, Irvine and Mohan talk about what they’ve got cooking in the Army’s kitchens and how they’re drawing inspiration from culinary TV shows and Columbia University.
The podcast also will come up with the perfect cake to celebrate the Army’s big 250th birthday this month.
Next up is an episode on the Holistic Health and Fitness program. Focusing on soldiers’ physical, nutritional, mental, spiritual and sleep wellness, leaders have called the program the “largest investment in soldier readiness” in Army history.
Brig. Gen. Deydre Teyhen, commanding general of Medical Readiness Command, Pacific, and director of the Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific, and retired Sgt. Spencer Posey, lead human performance scientist with Booz Allen Hamilton, are leading researchers for Holistic Health and Fitness and have overseen the implementation of several programs across the Army.
During the podcast, Teyhen and Posey share their personal health and fitness journeys, some of the lessons they’ve learned along the way and how carrying an apple around makes a huge difference.
The podcast is available on June 18.
