Maj. Emmanuel Sioson is the strategic planner for the Modern War Institute at West Point. He served as the principal adviser on U.S. special operations to the U.S. ambassador to the Philippines and commanded Task Force 511.1 during the Battle of Marawi, the Philippines. He has multiple combat tours in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Philippines, as well as operational deployments throughout Asia.
