Southern Virginia AUSA Chapter Hosts 2nd Annual 5K & 10K Run at Five Fields Brewery

On September 28, 2025, the Southern Virginia Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) proudly hosted its 2nd Annual 5K and 10K Run at Five Fields Brewery in Charles City, Virginia. The event brought together Soldiers and civilians alike for a day of fitness, camaraderie, and community support.

A total of 50 runners registered for the race, and the chapter was honored to welcome an additional 40 Soldiers from Gulf Company, 244th Quartermaster Battalion, Fort Lee, Virginia. Together, participants took to the scenic Capital Trail, enjoying the crisp fall air while supporting the chapter’s mission.

The event was a resounding success, thanks to the leadership and coordination of Chapter President James Vardy and Vice President for NCO/Soldier Programs, SFC Nancy Nguyen. Both expressed their pride in the strong turnout and the enthusiastic participation from Soldiers and community members.

By blending tradition, fitness, and fellowship, the Southern Virginia Chapter’s annual run continues to strengthen ties between the Army and the local community, while celebrating the spirit of service and resilience.
