Autonomous Mission Systems

At Forterra, we are unleashing autonomy at scale to transform the battlefield. Our mission is to build the foundational platforms and algorithms that enable an intelligent ecosystem to coordinate, adapt, and execute with speed and precision even in the uncertainty and disruption of modern conflict. In an era marked by rapid technological change and evolving threats, we design for flexibility, survivability, and operational dominance.

Forterra delivers weapons, sensors, and battlefield effects through integrated autonomous networks reaching operational areas faster, safer, and without placing human lives at risk. Our systems operate with distributed control, dynamic routing, and real-time responsiveness, enabling sustained advantage across complex mission environments.

Operating Principles

  • Mission-Focused: Forterra connects humans to mission-critical outcomes. Its systems extend operator reach and decision-making in contested environments, enabling missions once considered too risky or resource intensive.
  • Cooperative Autonomy: Autonomy is about enablement. Forterra systems are designed for seamless human-machine collaboration, unlocking faster responses, greater adaptability, and tighter command integration.
  • Integrated at Scale: From a single vehicle to a fully networked fleet, Forterra delivers modular, plug-and-play autonomy that integrates across platforms, payloads, and mission systems, connecting the edge to the enterprise.
  • Built for the Edge: Designed for the world’s harshest environments, from the front lines of national defense to the most rugged industrial zones, Forterra’s systems are resilient, adaptable, and operational without compromise.
  • Force Through Innovation: Forterra pushes the edge of autonomous capability and the user experience. From GPS-denied convoying to intelligent mesh networks, the company’s technologies redefine how and where autonomy can operate, maximizing force protection and mission success.
Forterra autonomous systems support mission critical activities and help keep soldiers safe.

The Autonomy Ecosystem

Forterra delivers autonomy built for operational outcomes. The company’s ecosystem spans mission planning, command-and-control, communications, and onboard autonomy. This is autonomy deliberately integrated into workflows and decision loops, elevating control from one operator-one machine to one operator commanding many. This is autonomy designed to move in sync with mission intent, be resilient in contested environments, and adapt across changing conditions on the ground.

Forterra’s autonomy ecosystem forms a unified through-line from vehicle to sensor to command-and-control. Its technology serves as the connective tissue, binding systems into a resilient, integrated network.

At the tactical edge, vehicles become more than transport, they contribute compute, power, and decision-making capacity to the fight. This distributed architecture transforms disconnected assets into a mesh of compute and communication nodes, creating an adaptive environment where autonomy and situational awareness extend across the entire battlefield.

Forterra’s systems empower ground vehicle platforms of any size and mission with autonomous mobility and maneuver.

Programs and Partnerships

Forterra’s current programs and partnerships reflect both the depth of our innovation and the strength of our industry alliances. Programs such as GEARS, ROGUE, UXS, CAML, and SMET demonstrate our leadership across autonomy, logistics, and mission readiness, delivering solutions that address urgent operational demands while shaping the future of mobility.

These efforts are reinforced by strategic partnerships with Oshkosh, RTX, BAE, Mack, Plasan, and Kalmar, which expand our reach from defense to commercial sectors. Together, these programs and collaborations not only validate the adaptability of Forterra’s mission modules but also accelerate production, integration, and deployment, ensuring Forterra remains at the forefront of both military and industrial transformation.
