Three Family Forums Scheduled at AUSA 2018

Three family focused forums are scheduled during the Association of the U.S. Army’s October Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C.

On opening day, Oct. 8, an afternoon forum will discuss 16 indicators of success or failure in policy and programs for Army families. Stacy Ann Hawkins, a research scientist specializing in the health and well-being of military families, will lead the examination of issues such as physical and mental health of family members, marital strain, finances, social support networks and a family’s deployment experience.

AUSA 2018 Gives Stage to xTechSearch Semifinalists

A new program is coming to Innovator’s Corner at the 2018 Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of the U.S. Army, and it includes the semifinal round of judging for xTechSearch, an Army program seeking new technology ideas from nontraditional defense partners.

AUSA 2018 will be held Oct. 8–10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Innovator’s Corner will be at Booth 2361 in Hall B.

‘Ready Today, More Lethal Tomorrow’

The theme of the 2018 Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition is “Ready Today, More Lethal Tomorrow,” which focuses on the rebuilding efforts underway across the Army.

The theme fits with the message Army leaders have been sending. For example, Army Secretary Mark T. Esper said in a July speech in Colorado that a renaissance is underway in the service to improve current warfighting capabilities while also preparing for future fights. The Army is focused, he said, on the “immediate near term” and on the future, 2028 and beyond.
