The Association of the U.S. Army is releasing six new podcast episodes in July, including an update from Army Futures Command and interviews with three Army athletes who will be competing in the Olympics in Tokyo this summer.

First up in the “Army Matters” series is an interview with Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Crosby, senior enlisted leader for Futures Command, who will provide an update on the Army’s modernization efforts and how the fiscal 2022 budget might affect the service’s work.

The episode is available July 5.

A special edition, available July 7, will focus on the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. Richard Azzaro, president of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Foundation; retired Col. Joe Buche, the foundation’s executive director; and retired Sgt. Maj. Gavin McIlvenna, president of the Society of the Honor Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, will discuss the special events planned to mark the tomb’s centennial.

Next up is a podcast featuring three Army athletes who will compete in the Olympics, which are slated to begin July 23 after being delayed for a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sgt. Samantha Schultz is a five-time USA Modern Pentathlon national champion, and Sgt. Amro Elgeziry is a three-time Olympian who also is competing in the modern pentathlon. Sgt. 1st Class Elizabeth Marks is a swimmer and Paralympian who won gold and bronze medals in the 2016 Paralympic Games.

The episode is available July 12.

On July 14, a special edition on permanent change-of-station moves will be released. The podcast will feature Maria McConville, spouse of the Army chief of staff; Alexandra Grinston, spouse of the sergeant major of the Army; and Brittany Raines, whose family was AUSA’s 2020 Volunteer Family of the Year.

Next up is a podcast featuring Scott Leeling, president of AUSA’s Pikes Peak chapter, who will talk about how the chapter is supporting and connecting with soldiers and families at Fort Carson, Colorado, and the surrounding area.

The episode will be available July 19.

The final podcast for July will feature retired Lt. Gen. Daniel Bolger, author of The Panzer Killers: The Untold Story of a Fighting General and His Spearhead Tank Division’s Charge into the Third Reich.

In his book, Bolger, who also writes for ARMY magazine, tells the story of Maj. Gen. Maurice Rose, who served under Gen. George Patton and led the 3rd Armored Division as it fought from Normandy to the West Wall, from the Battle of the Bulge to the final charge against Germany, according to a description of the book.

The podcast will be available July 26.
