Time is running out to register online for this year’s Association of the U.S. Army Annual Meeting and Exposition.

AUSA’s biggest event will take place Oct. 11–13 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The advanced registration deadline is 8 p.m. Eastern Oct. 5. After that, registration must be done in person beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern Oct. 8 at the convention center.

This year’s annual meeting will feature Army Secretary Christine Wormuth, Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston and other Army leaders.

Wormuth is scheduled to speak during the opening ceremony, while McConville will outline his vision for the Army during the Eisenhower Forum on Oct. 12. All three leaders will also participate in a town hall with Army families later that afternoon.

AUSA 2021 also will feature additional health and safety measures, including a vaccine requirement, masks and social distancing. Seating at many events, including major speeches and forums, will be limited, but there will be overflow rooms for viewing.

In addition, most AUSA-hosted breakfasts, lunches and dinners have been converted to forums and presentations.

Several other Army leaders also will speak during the annual meeting.

Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. Joseph Martin and Grinston are slated to name this year’s Soldier and NCO of the Year during a ceremony Oct. 11.

Gen. Paul Funk, commander of Army Training and Doctrine Command, is scheduled to lead a contemporary military forum titled “People First: Now and Into the Future,” and Gen. Michael Garrett, commanding general of Army Forces Command, will speak during a forum on readiness.

There will be a forum on Project Convergence, the Army’s campaign of learning that puts new and emerging technologies to the test in a series of exercises. The discussion will be led by Gen. Mike Murray, commanding general of Army Futures Command.

Gen. Christopher Cavoli, U.S. Army Europe and Africa commander, and Gen. Charles Flynn, commander of U.S. Army Pacific, will participate in a forum titled “Transforming Land Power to Meet Global Challenges.”

The annual meeting also has events for job seekers and Army civilians, including a job fair and training or panel discussions by several Army civilian career programs.

There also will be more than 650 exhibitors in five halls on both levels of the convention center.

The annual meeting will close with the Marshall Medal Presentation on Oct. 13. Retired Sgt. Maj. of the Army Kenneth Preston, an AUSA senior fellow and the longest-serving sergeant major of the Army, will receive the Marshall Medal, AUSA’s highest award.
